Born in Corbin, Kentucky, the 6-foot-3 Selvy played for Furman from 1952 to 1954. During his senior year, he led the NCAA in scoring, averaging 41.7 points per game and famously scored 100 points (41 field goals, 18 free throws) in a 145-95 win over Newberry on February 13, 1954.
