Caleb Martin and Quentin Grimes are swapping teams in Philadelphia.

On Tuesday, the Dallas Mavericks traded for Martin, sending Grimes back to the Eastern Conference with the Philadelphia 76ers. Along with Grimes, the 76ers also receive a 2025 second-round pick in the deal, which was announced just hours before the teams were set to face off at the Wells Fargo Center.

This trade comes just three days after a blockbuster deal that saw Luka Dončić move to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, marking a rare superstar swap.

Mavericks receive:

  • Caleb Martin

76ers receive:

  • Quentin Grimes
  • 2025 second-round pick

Martin, who has been sidelined since January 10 due to groin and hip injuries, and Grimes both joined their respective teams in the current season. Martin was listed as questionable for Tuesday night's game with a sprained right hip.

Martin turned down a more lucrative offer from Miami to sign with the 76ers, hoping to compete for a championship alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George.

Grimes, meanwhile, came to the defending Western Conference champion Mavericks in an offseason trade with Detroit. Dallas also added Klay Thompson in a sign-and-trade, aiming to strengthen the pairing of Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving—before Dončić’s unexpected trade.

Martin is part of the Mavericks' third major trade deadline overhaul in the past four seasons. The second of those brought Irving from Brooklyn, helping Dallas reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011, although they lost to Boston in five games.

Martin averaged 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in 31 games for the 76ers. Grimes, in 47 games for the Mavericks, averaged 10.2 points and shot a career-best 40% from beyond the arc. Both players have been rotational starters throughout their careers. Before his injury, Martin started 24 games this season, while Grimes started 12 games, contributing as one of Dallas' top defenders.
