Nets' Leading Scorer Cam Thomas Out for at Least 3 Weeks with Left Hamstring Strain
Cam Thomas has been the Nets’ most consistent scoring threat this season.

The Brooklyn Nets announced on Wednesday that guard Cam Thomas will be sidelined for at least three weeks due to a left hamstring strain. He will be reevaluated in three weeks.

This season, Thomas is averaging 24.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, ranking No. 14 in the NBA in scoring. He last played in the Nets' 128-120 victory over Golden State on Nov. 26, where the team overcame an 18-point deficit. In that game, Thomas scored 23 points on 6-for-11 shooting (3-for-7 from beyond the arc), adding three rebounds and an assist.

With Thomas out, Brooklyn is expected to rely more on Cameron Johnson (18.3 ppg) and Dennis Schröder (18 ppg) to fill the scoring gap. The Nets are currently 8-10 but are just a half-game behind the Miami Heat for the No. 6 spot in the standings, making them one of the season’s more surprising teams.

Six of the Nets' next 11 games will be at home, and if Thomas returns in three weeks, he could be back in action for the team's Dec. 27 matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. Following that game, Brooklyn will play nine of its next 12 games on the road.
