RB Leipzig managers: Julian Nagelsmann is considered the best

List of RB Leipzig managers over time
RB Leipzig is a new club compared to other football clubs in the world that have around hundreds of years of existence. This German professional football club was founded on 19 May 2009 with only 12 years old. They have witnessed a total of nine head coaches since the club’s inception and almost all of them have brought equal achievements to RB Leipzig without any outstanding manager.
The first head coach of Die Roten Bullen was Tino Vogel, a German football manager who only led the club within one season, 2009-2010. Although they didn’t qualify for any continental and international tournament in their first years, Tino Vogel helped them achieve the very first trophy in the NOFV-Oberliga Sud (V).

In the next season, RB Leipzig were led by Tomas Oral. He joined the club in a total of 34 games, and 18 of them were winning matches. They also won the Saxony Cup in the 2010-11 season. The first time RB Leipzig welcomed a foreign manager to lead their team in the 2011-12 season. However, they didn’t obtain any title under the time of Peter Pacult, an Austrian head coach.
Alexander Zorniger is the longest-serving manager of this German club. He spent almost three seasons with RB Leipzig, from 2012 to 2015. During this period, the club won their second Saxony Cup, Regionalliga Nordost, and became the runner-up of the Liga III. In the next four months from February to June 2015, the club was led by an interim coach Achim Beierlorzer.
In the 2015-16 season, RB Leipzig started to move forward in the higher tier in domestic football. They reached the final of the 2. Bundesliga with the lead of German football manager Ralf Rangnick.
Since the 2016-17 season, The Red Bulls have started playing in the top-flight German football competition, Bundesliga. In their first season at this tournament, they finished as the runner-up, which is also their highest position so far. Ralph Hasenhüttl was the first manager who helped RB Leipzig to their highest achievement until now. He is currently the head coach of Premier League club Southampton after spending two seasons with the German side.
In the 2018-19 season, the club missed their chance to win their first DFB-Pokal. However, they had great effort and were happy to become the runner-up because it was an admirable win for Bayern Munich, the top-notch club in German football. This return of head coach Ralf Rangnick was not a failure at all.
Julian Nagelsmann, the next manager of RB Leipzig after the departure of Rangnick after the 2018-19 season, was the one who together with the club went furthest in the prestigious UEFA Champions League. Although they didn’t win any title during his time, their finishes in major leagues and cups were relatively impressive. In the 2019-20 season, RB Leipzig reached the semi-final round of the UCL and were kicked out of the competition by a 0-3 loss to Paris Saint-Germain. In the previous season, they finished second in two tournaments, the 2020-21 Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.
Julian Nagelsmann
RB Leipzig made their first Champions League debut in the 2017-18 season. Although it was too late for other top-flight European clubs, they are actually one of the first clubs in history to qualify for this prestigious competition so soon, just eight years after their inception. During the first season, they only finished in the group stage. However, Julian Nagelsmann successfully brought the club to the semi-final after one year of being relegated to the UEFA Europa League in 2018-19.
Will the current American manager make history?
Jesse Marsch, an American professional football coach, was appointed to be the manager of German club RB Leipzig in the 2021-22 season to replace Julian Nagelsmann. He used to work with this club in the 2018-19 season as a manager assistant, but never managed a German football club as a full-time manager, but all American soccer clubs and one Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg before.
He made his first Bundesliga debut in the 2021-22 season as the manager of RB Leipzig, however, it was, unfortunately, a 0-1 loss to Mainz. We, as football fanatics, and RB Leipzig are all waiting for a miracle that can help this American football manager lead the club to the best result so far.
