England squad: Ivan Toney received his first call-up to the England squad for Nations League Matches

Ivan Toney, who has pocketed 13 Premier League goals since January, has been rewarded with his first England call-up. He is enjoying one of his best starts in the Premier League as he has scored 5 goals in 6 games for the Bees. His impressive performances have attracted Gareth Southgate’s attention.

“With Ivan Toney, we have been tracking him for a long time," said Southgate.

"I had a good chat with Thomas Frank about him last season. His form and his qualities - not only his goal scoring but his technical ability, build-up play and aerial prowess - gives us a different threat to some of the other players we could pick."

Tottenham defender Eric Dier was recalled after almost 2 years of absence because of his significant improvement under Conte.

However, there are some noticeable absentees, who are the duo of Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, as well as No. 1 Southgate’s goalkeeper option, Jordan Pickford, due to a thigh issue.
