Manchester United can let Jesse Lingard leave next January

After his great performance at West Ham on a loan deal in the second leg of the 2020/21 season, Lingard is still only considered a “super substitute” when returning to the Red Devils. However, he has always tried to complete his role anytime on the pitch. The England forward has struggled to have a place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI since this summer. He has come off the bench to score a winner at his former club West Ham in the 89th minute and set up a decisive goal for Cristiano Ronaldo against Villarreal.  

Jesse Lingard was only a subsittute choice under Ole Solskjaer

In an interview on United Review on October 8th, the young talent straightly announced that he wanted to play more often to maintain his form. This speech of Lingard seemed to aim at head coach Ole Solskjaer to put pressure on the Norwegian. 

MUFC offered a new contract for Lingard with a salary of around £135,000 a week, a decent increase on his current deal (£75,000/week) but they could not accept any other demands from the England player. Lingard, himself, wants to stay at Old Trafford but he needs playing regularly. In case Lingard refuses the deal, Red Devils are ready to sell him in the January 2022 transfer window for a fee of only £15million. 

In reality, Lingard has no lack of options for his future destination if he leaves MU. West Ham, Leicester City, Barca, Milan, and Newcastle are interested in this talented player. According to Manchester Evening News, Newcastle were even willing to spend money recruiting both Lingard and 3 other MU stars including Donny Van De Beek, Eric Bailly, and Anthony Martial. Thus, £15 million for the English midfielder is nothing compared to the bottomless pocket of the Arab owners.
