Who are the Bundesliga top scorers?
Bundesliga's simplification
So there are a few things about the Bundesliga you should catch on before calling out the name of top scorers in the history and in this season of this highest tier in Germany.
What is the Bundesliga?
Bundesliga is the name of the highest professional football league in Germany. It is similar to other top divisions in other European countries, such as the Premier League in England, La Liga in Spain, Ligue 1 in France, and Serie A in Italy. These aforementioned competitions made up the “Big Five” in the European football system.
The Bundesliga was first introduced 57 years ago, in the 1963-1964 season. Since its inception, the competition has served any football fan all over the world from every August to May. It is now run by the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL), although this football contest was founded by another association, Deutscher Fußball-Bund.

How does the Bundesliga work?
-
Team participating
There are 18 professional German football clubs in the competition. This is considered a humble number of participants compared to other leagues, such as LaLiga and Premier League with 20 teams. However, it would be a good opportunity for our footballers to play better and stronger due to the fewer matches they have to join.
-
Competing format
Like other leagues in the continent, the Bundesliga is also operated under the round-robin format. That means with 18 teams taking part in, each will have to appear in 34 matches in total with the other 17 teams. Half of them are played at their home ground, and the other counterparts are at the opponent’s venues.
-
The scoring system
Initially, a team will receive two points for winning a single watch, but since the 1995-96 season, it was changed to three points. Both teams always obtain one point if the match ends up level, and a defeated team gains nothing. Ultimately, the team that finished with the highest point will be crowned with the Bundesliga’s champion.
In case there are several teams are tied in points, the following tiebreaker criteria will be applied:
-
Goal difference for the entire season
-
Total goals scored for the entire season
-
Head-to-head results (total points)
-
Head-to-head goals scored
-
Head-to-head away goals scored
-
Total away goals scored for the entire season

Robert Lewandowski- the 2021 top scorer bundesliga
Bundesliga prediction
According to the current situation, we can see that Bayern Munich is still the most potential club to win this season of Bundesliga. Hans-Dieter Flick’s students are currently leading the competition with 61 aggregate points. Moreover, Robert Lewandowski, a star of Bayern Munich is also the top scorer this season, so it will be not surprising that they will lift the Bundesliga shield nine times consecutively.
On the other hand, it seems that Borussia Dortmund is also a favorite team for the champion this 2020-2021 season. Although this club doesn’t possess such a huge achievement board in the Bundesliga like Bayern Munich, they already won the Bundesliga title five times, and seven times being a runner-up. Borussia Dortmund contains Erling Haaland, who is ranking in the third place in the top goal scorers this season with 21 goals up to date.
