Chelsea's crisis: Pulisic was injured; it is time for Aubameyang’s left

Christian Pulisic’s injury is a serious loss for Chelsea

Christian Pulisic, a winger for Chelsea and the USA, is expected to spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury during Chelsea's 1-0 loss to Manchester City last week.

22 minutes had passed when Pulisic departed the match on January 5; Chelsea manager Graham Potter said on Wednesday that the player might not return to action until March.

"Christian [Pulisic] is a couple of months away, we think. Raheem [Sterling] is less, hopefully less than that" – he said

Pulisic was holding onto a ball in the box when a hard John Stones challenge looked to injure the American. This might have averted a goal.

Key players including Reece James, N'Golo Kante, and Ben Chilwell were among the 10 players absent from Sunday's FA Cup loss to Manchester City.

Reece James' knee ailment returned last month, Chilwell has missed most of the season due to injury, and Kante last appeared for the team in August. Wesley Fofana, a summer acquisition, is still sidelined due to a knee problem.

Pulisic has struggled with injuries during his Chelsea career and started just 13 league games last year due to them. The American started the first five league games of this season on the bench because he was never a likely starter under former manager Thomas Tuchel. However, he seemed to be back in demand after a strong World Cup performance with the United States, as he started Chelsea's previous three league games until being replaced against City.

Chelsea defeated Bournemouth 2-0, with a goal disallowed for Pulisic, who also played 86 minutes in the subsequent 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest. Although he assisted Haji Wright's final goal of the tournament against Holland, he had a better opportunity to give the US an early lead with a strike from inside the box just three minutes earlier.

Graham Potter took steps to evict Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick As Graham Potter attempts to put his ideas into practice, Aubameyang's future at Chelsea is becoming more and more hazy. The 33-year-old has had trouble scoring goals for the Blues this season, tallying just one goal in the Premier League. Despite being the only senior striker available to west Londoners, Aubameyang has fallen out of favor at Stamford Bridge.Following the World Cup, Potter chose Kai Havertz over the Gabon international in order to give him a start for Chelsea.

Aubameyang's only noteworthy minutes in recent weeks have come off the bench during the Blues' FA Cup match against Manchester City, where he was introduced off the bench within the first five minutes. Even yet, after a lackluster performance, he was later replaced by a rookie player named Omari Hutchinson in the second half.

Aubameyang had poor performance at Chelsea

Paul Merson thinks that Aubameyang's time at Chelsea is coming to an end because of the "unwritten rule" of being used as a substitute. The former Arsenal midfielder made the prediction while speaking on Sky Sports, predicting that the striker will be sold during the January transfer window and that Joao Felix's loan will happen soon.

"I think Aubameyang will now be moved on. I think they will cut their ties with him. As soon as you are sub-subbing a 30-something player, I think that is probably the end. They have brought a couple of players in already and it looks like they are going to have a go in the transfer window. The top four looks very far away right now but there’s a long way to go” - Merson said.

Due to Chelsea's rumored plans to sign Atletico Madrid star Felix this month, Aubameyang is already attracting attention. The Spanish powerhouses are among the La Liga clubs interested in signing the Blues striker, according to the Daily Mail, but any agreement would have no bearing on Felix's probable move to Stamford Bridge.
