Liverpool vs Wolves Prediction, Odds & betting Tips

Since Wolves are a team on the rise, Liverpool are in a rut and there is no certainty they will win.

[FA Cup Prediction] Liverpool will play Wolverhampton Wanderers in their third-round replay at Molineux on Tuesday night, when they run the risk of having their FA Cup title defense end at the first hurdle. In the first encounter between the two clubs, Julen Lopetegui's team left Anfield with a 2-2 draw, but they would have been let down to not have qualified right away.

Liverpool vs Wolves Prediction: Liverpool’s terrible form

Liverpool form

Jurgen Klopp struck a particularly sad figure as his team was overpowered, outfought, and simply torn to shreds at the home of Brighton on Saturday afternoon, allowing three goals without reply. He was forced to watch what might have been the "worst game" of his managing career. After somehow reaching halftime with a score of 0-0, the floodgates quickly opened as the man of the match, Solly March, scored twice before Danny Welbeck finished off the humiliation of the Reds. For the time being, the Reds can forget about a top-four charge as they fight to even maintain their European status.

Liverpool form

A frightening eight goals have been conceded in that span, extending Liverpool's streak without a clean sheet in all tournaments to seven games. Liverpool is currently languishing in ninth place in the table and seven points behind the top four teams. The defending FA Cup champions have only been eliminated in the third round once in the previous 11 seasons, but Wolves did it to them in 2018–19, and they also eliminated the Reds in the fourth round of the 2016–17 competition. However, Liverpool hasn't lost to Wolves by less than three goals since that FA Cup defeat in 2019, and prior to this month's draw, they had won seven straight league games. If history is on Liverpool's side, Klopp may be less opposed to replays.

Wolves form

When the offside flag was hoisted and VAR was unable to save him, Wolves center-back Toti thought he had eliminated FA Cup champions Liverpool at Anfield on January 7. He wheeled away in jubilation and received the booking for the shirt-stripping for nothing. Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, Hwang Hee-chan, and Goncalo Guedes all scored in a Merseyside thriller before the camera angle-related disagreement broke out, giving the Wolves another chance to send one of the big boys packing.

Wolves form

Wolves, who are still competing in one knockout tournament, were eliminated by Nottingham Forest from the EFL Cup quarterfinals four days after holding Liverpool, but their return to Premier League duties resulted in a crucial 1-0 victory over West Ham United on Saturday thanks to Daniel Podence's sweet goal. The 16th-placed Wolves have earned themselves some breathing room in the Premier League standings, sitting two points ahead of the cutoff, and scoring in their previous four games is a welcome turnaround for the goal-shy Molineux crop. Wolves had gone four games without winning in any competition. Wolves have only lost in replays after opening stalemates twice in the FA Cup third round since 2016, and Liverpool travels to the south with more on the line than just a single point to stake.

Liverpool vs Wolves Betting tips

A low scorer

The overall number of goals will be under 2.5, which is the second of our predictions for this game. When it comes to overall goals, the two sides' recent performances are significantly different, with Wolves having four of their past five games go under the 2.5-goal line and Liverpool having each of their last five games go beyond it. We chose an underdog for two distinct reasons. First off, neither of the last two head-to-head matches in which Wolves was the home team saw three goals scored. Second, in a market that is difficult to predict, the odds on the "under" betting choice are significantly better, giving us fantastic value.

Under 2.5 goals

Wolves has scored fewer goals than any other Premier League side this year. Only 12 times have they made the net bulge as a result of poor conversion and generation rates.  Wolves "should" have scored six more goals than they have, according to the expected goals stats, yet only Crystal Palace and Bournemouth have generated fewer opportunities overall. Wolves did score in six of Lopetegui's seven games in charge in all competitions, and they did break Liverpool's defense twice at Anfield. However, there is cause to think that this game could not be as high-scoring as the previous one between these two sides.

Liverpool vs Wolves Best Tips From Betimate

  •    Draw at half-time

Wolves have a superior defensive record than many of the teams surrounding them in the Premier League table, despite the fact that they do not score many goals. The fact that the score was tied at halftime in 11 of their 19 Premier League games this season should not be shocking. No other top-flight squad has surpassed double digits in that specific category. The Wolves have tried to become better competitors under Bruno Lage and Lopetegui. This team does not frequently spring out of the traps. Wolves, meanwhile, prefer to move steadily and slowly. Liverpool has the joint-fifth worst defensive record in the first half of games this season, but only Manchester City has scored more goals in the first half than the Reds. We might be in for another equally balanced first half this midweek after the initial encounter between these teams ended at 1-1 at the break.
