Man City vs Arsenal Highlights

Manchester City defeated Arsenal 1-0 to go to the fifth round of the FA Cup for the seventh straight year. In the 64th minute, Pep Guardiola's team finally made a breakthrough thanks to an unlikely source. Jack Grealish found Nathan Ake in front of goal after Julian Alvarez's attempt struck the post, and Nathan calmly passed the ball past Matt Turner and into the far post. The remainder of the game saw City efficiently stopping Mikel Arteta's team from establishing opportunities to equalize, displaying their ability to exert control over the game.

Man City vs Arsenal Summary:

After being relentlessly billed as "Master vs. Apprentice" for a week, the top two teams in the Premier League finally collided, with Pep Guardiola attempting to fend off a serious challenge to his throne from his former assistant Mikel Arteta. Despite having more changes than the opposing team, Arsenal started out strong as usual, with Leandro Trossard posing the more important queries in the opening stages. The Belgian, who was making his first start for the Gunners since joining from Brighton, displayed some cunning and gained some crucial breathing room, which allowed him to find Takehiro Tomiyasu on the edge of the area. Stefan Ortega, however, blocked the Japanese full-powerful back's drive.

As the first half's minutes passed, Trossard continued to harass City, frequently taking advantage of the space left by Rico Lewis on the visitors' right flank. At the halfway point of the half, the winger attempted a shot of his own as well, but Ortega was once more up to the task thanks to Rico Lewis on the hosts' right flank. At the halfway point of the half, the winger attempted a shot of his own, but Ortega was once more up to the challenge. Erling Haaland was a significant presence up front for City, but they were having trouble producing their own chances. Kevin De Bruyne, City's chief creator, came the closest to scoring when his curler from the edge of the box drifted just wide of the net.

After the break, play resumed cautiously with defenses dominating; Fabio Vieira's errant volley was the only shot on goal in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Arsenal lost the opening goal when City's substitute Julian Lvarez's long-range shot hit the post and they failed to clear their lines. Nathan Aké was given a clear path in the final third thanks to Jack Grealish's reverse pass, which allowed him to curl a lovely finish into the far corner on his weak foot past the sprawling Matt Turner.

Nathan Ake is the Citizens' Hero

Arteta brought in Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Degaard, and ex-City boy Oleksandr Zinchenko in an effort to catch up after falling behind, but his changes had little impact. In fact, the hosts maintained control of the game throughout to win it at home for the tenth time in a row. However, this was the first time during that streak that they failed to score three goals. Guardiola won't be bothered by that, though, as it was his 14th victory over the Gunners in 17 head-to-head matches as City manager.
