After defeating Oxford United 3-0, Arsenal secured a matchup with Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth round. For the Gunners, Eddie Nketiah scored twice, and Fabio Vieira excelled with a few assists. Vieira's performance was hailed by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who said he had the "ability to decide games." The following three games for Arsenal are against Tottenham, Manchester United, and Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta lauded Fabio Vieira's abilities after he contributed two assists

Fabio Vieira provided two assists in Arsenal's 3-0 FA Cup third-round victory over Oxford United, and Mikel Arteta complimented his abilities after the match. On the hour mark, Mohamed Elneny scored his first goal since May 2021 and gave Arsenal the lead after Vieira swung in a free kick. The first of two goals were then scored by Eddie Nketiah after he threaded a ball through for him.

Vieira has only made a few appearances since joining Arsenal from Porto last summer, but he grabbed the occasion to win over Arteta.

“He has the quality,” Arteta told ITV Sport.

“He is a really creative player and has the capacity to decide games in the final third. The moment we got him into the right spaces he made the difference.”

Vieira's pass for the opening goal, which gave Arsenal the lead on the hour mark, received high acclaim from former Arsenal and England star Karen Carney.

"The delivery is outstanding. That makes every defense utterly terrified. You simply need to focus on it. It's awful because you, the keeper, are unable to exit. That cannot be improved upon via endless practice. It's flawless.” Arteta continued, "They make it difficult, they compete really well, and you have to be patient."

“We were patient and we found the right openings and the goals helped us to control the game better in the last 20 minutes.”

Arsenal has a tantalizing run of fixtures coming up as they face Tottenham and Manchester United in their next two Premier League games and then meet Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup. They also face City for the first time in the league this season on February 15.

“We go game by game,” said Arteta.

“We have a big game against Spurs and we will prepare for that one first.”

After Arsenal defeated Oxford, Eddie Nketiah is embracing the occasion

Mikel Arteta thinks Eddie Nketiah is taking advantage of his opportunity after he scored twice as Arsenal defeated Oxford in the FA Cup third round. Since Gabriel Jesus, a Brazilian forward, had a knee injury at the World Cup, the 23-year-old has continued to fill in for Gabriel Jesus and has now scored five goals in as many games.

In the 3-0 triumph at the Kassam Stadium, Nketiah scored twice, two deft finishes putting the finishing touches on a challenging game after Mohamed Elneny's headed opening goal. Nketiah, who began the season on the sidelines, is currently tied for the team's most goals with Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, and Bukayo Saka, who are more frequently first-team starts.

Nketiah is currently the only known striker in Arteta's squad since Jesus is out, and the Arsenal manager is hopeful that some backup will arrive in the January transfer window as his team looks to extend its five-point advantage at the top of the Premier League.

Arsenal will now travel to Manchester City in round four after defeating third-tier Oxford, with Pep Guardiola's team sitting second in the standings and ready to capitalize on any errors. Arteta also allayed fears of an injury to Saka ahead of Sunday’s north London derby away to Tottenham, confirming England forward is “fine” despite limping off in the second half. Oxford's energetic effort failed to produce a favorable outcome, but manager Karl Robinson was pleased with the performance.

Arsenal will play Man City in the FA Cup's fourth round

After defeating Chelsea 4-0, City advanced to the round of 32 with two goals from Riyad Mahrez, Julian Alvarez, Phil Foden, and a Mahrez penalty in the second half. The victory earns the team a home match against Premier League leaders Arsenal. Prior to our matchup with Chelsea, the draw was conducted live on BBC One, with former England star Emile Heskey and former City and England goalie Karen Bardsley selecting the numbers.
