PSG vs Angers Highlights

In a Ligue 1 match, PSG defeated Angers 2-0, and despite not having the advantage, the visitors did not give up. They had several opportunities to score, and the game was notable for the VAR reviews, with Messi's goal being the one that received the most attention.

PSG vs Angers Summary

After winning the 2022 World Cup, Lionel Messi made his long-awaited return to Paris Saint-Germain, and he did so in style by scoring the second goal in the team's 2-0 victory over bottom-dwelling Angers. Throughout the entire 90 minutes, Angers barely troubled PSG and posed little threat. There were a few nervy moments for the hosts, but overall they were comfortable. Hugo Ekitike's goal five minutes into the game gave PSG the comfortability it would later experience.

It was obvious that PSG manager Christophe Galtier had instructed his team to only push the limits when absolutely necessary while dealing with a slight injury swell. The home crowd began to whistle in response, indicating that PSG had little motivation to advance. With 20 minutes remaining, Angers felt encouraged because they were still down by just one goal. However, Messi's goal, which withstood a VAR review, put an end to any hopes of a comeback.

The victory increases PSG's advantage at the top of the French league standings to six points, with Lens drawing Strasbourg in other Ligue 1 action today. With no points since September, Angers has remained at the bottom of the standings.
