Lazio FC table 2021-22: Sum-up and review

Preseason
Lazio had a great preseason before the official 2021-22 season started. They won four out of seven friendlies, and the other three games were all 1-1 draws. Their first wins were surprisingly out of expectations. In the middle of July 2021, Lazio defeated the Top 11 Radio Club by a 10-0 win. Three days later, they once again surpassed Fiori Barp Mas with an even more impressive result, 11-0.

2021-22 Serie A table
In the 2021-22 Serie A table, Lazio are standing in the sixth position with 11 points, after Fiorentina with 12 points. Within their first seven matchdays, Lazio won more than the number of lost games. They surpassed their opponents in the first, second, and sixth matchdays against Empoli, Spezia, and Roma respectively.
In their first Serie A game, Lazio finished with a 3-1 away win against Empoli. Two goals of the match were scored right in the first minutes. The opening goal belonged to Empoli and was netted by Filippo Bandinelli in the fourth minute. Two minutes later, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio balanced the score. Within the first half, the club got the second and third goals either, including one penalty goal scored by the goal machine striker Ciro Immobile. It could be considered a lucky game for Lazio because both teams performed quite equally and their statistics were not significantly different from each other.

Their second win was also the second Serie A home game. It was a big defeat over Spezia, an underdog of the Serie A this year. Once again, Lazio’s rival scored the first goal of the match in the fourth minute. Ciro quickly equalized the score with his goal in the 5th minute. He kept scoring in the 15th and the extra time of the first half, bringing the score to 3-1 for Lazio after the first half. In the second stage, they got another three goals thanks to Felipe Anderson, Elseid Hysaj, and Luis Alberto in the 47th, 70th, and 85th minutes respectively. It was not a hassle for Maurizio Sarri’s students to surpass Spezia in this game.
Lazio also defeated Roma in their sixth Serie A game. Le Aquile went ahead with a 2-1 result after the first half. The Brazilian attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson brought the third goal for Lazio in the 62nd minute. Roma tried to equalize the result in the last competing minutes of the game and their effort didn't pay off. They only scored one more goal (a penalty goal) by Jordan Veretout in the 69th minute.
Lazio also had two draws and two losses within their seven first Serie A matches. In the fourth matchday, Lazio met Cagliari in their home ground but didn’t end up with a win, but a draw. The opening goal was scored until the last minute of the first half, by Ciro Immobile from Lazio. Right a minute later, Joao Pedro helped Cagliari obtain their first goal. They even surpassed Lazio with the second goal in the 62nd minute, but Danilo Cataldi turned the match to a draw in the 83rd minute. Four days later, in their fifth Serie A game, Lazio got one point by another draw against Torino.
It was a tough match for both as the opening goal was achieved in the 76th minute, from the Torino winger Marko Pjaca. Lazio was awarded a penalty goal in the first extra time of the game and Ciro Immobile saved the club from the loss in the last minutes.
Along with these wins and draws, Lazio were also the losing team in two matches against Milan and Bologna without scoring any goal. Facing a top-notch club like AC Milan was a challenge for Lazio and it was no surprise that they weren’t successful in any shot. Rafael Leao and the experienced, famous player Zlatan Ibrahimovic were two Milan players who scored for this club in the 45th and 66th minutes.

The most recent Serie A match was an away game against Bologna, and Lazio finished with zero points obtained. Bologna successfully surpassed Lazio with three goals although the statistics showed that Lazio was even superior to their rival in some factors like shots on target, possession, passes, and pass accuracy. However, luck didn’t smile at Lazio in this game.
