Nordi Mukiele struck a dramatic late goal to secure Bayer Leverkusen a thrilling victory over Inter Milan, handing the Italian side their first Champions League defeat of the season.

Leverkusen Snatch Late Winner Against Inter — *Nordi Mukiele had not scored for more than three years.*

The win sees Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen leapfrog Inter Milan into second place in the table, just behind Liverpool, putting them in a strong position to secure automatic progression to the last 16 as one of the top eight teams.

The match seemed destined to end in a draw until the 90th minute, when on-loan Paris Saint-Germain defender Nordi Mukiele sealed the victory. He fired home from close range after Inter failed to clear a cross from the right wing.

Despite a solid defensive display for much of the match, restricting Leverkusen to just a few shots on target, Inter Milan will be disappointed with how they conceded their first goal of the competition this season.

Leverkusen were frustrated for most of the game, but the outcome could have been very different had they capitalized on early chances. Nathan Tella’s shot hit the crossbar in the opening minutes, following a pullback from Jeremie Frimpong. Later, Frimpong narrowly missed the target with a flicked shot after an excellent pass from Florian Wirtz.
