Match preview
Juventus have been known as the most successful club in the history of Serie A, with 36 titles so far. However, they may seem to lose their manners due to the departure of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford. They did not play impressively, or even badly, at the beginning of the season, marking their low-ranked position in this first stage. However, recently, they have been performing very rice without a loss since December.
Regarding the visitors, they have just won the Serie A once in the 1969-70 season. In this season, Cagliari are one of the bottom three teams that will be relegated to the lower division if they cannot get out of these places.
They have tasted victory only one time in the 2021-22 Serie A against Sampdoria in the middle of October with a 3-1 win at Unipol Domus. This 19th Serie A game between Juve and Cagliari will be played at Juventus’s home venue, the Juventus Stadium. Therefore, it is quite hard for the away team to defeat a strong rival like Juventus.
Juventus are on the way to the top four
Moise Kean was the player who brought the opening goal for The Old Lady with a headshot in the 40th minute. However, to achieve this goal, he had two other headshots but failed to score. It could be considered a lucky goal for Juventus to take the lead before the first half ended.
Moise Kean scored the opening goal for Juve
In the 60th minute, the visitors almost equalized the score with a close shot from the Brazilian defender Dalbert Henrique. It was such a chance for Cagliari with a very nice pass from Raoul Bellanova, but the ball was deflected to the post instead of breaking the net. There wouldn’t be a lot of good opportunities for Cagliari in this game, and missing this shot clearly left disappointments on Cagliari players’ faces.
The visitors’ captain also missed his chance to obtain the 10th Serie A goal this season as well as to equalize the score in this game. He made a dangerous headshot in the 68th minute that was saved by Szczesny without imperfection.
Juventus even doubled the difference by the goal from Bernardeschi in the 83rd minute. The home club took advantage when there were very few Cagliari defenders on their side. And the shot from the left corner of Bernardeschi was successful to bring an “almost-certain-victory” for The Old Lady.
Bernardeschi scored the second goal for Juventus
The game ended up with another 2-0 win for Juventus over underdogs in this Serie A.
Updated 2021-22 Serie A table
After the match between Juventus and Cagliari, the club from Turin climbed to the higher rank. They are now a fifth-placed club with 34 points from 10 wins, four draws, and five losses after 19 Serie A matches. They are four points fewer than Atalanta, the fourth-ranked club. If Juventus keep their great performances in the next stage of the competition, chances are they can be in the top four of the 2021-22 Serie A.
Meanwhile, Walter Mazzarri’s students are still sitting at the 19th position with only 10 points and one win. The bottom team Salernitana have eight points, only two points fewer than Cagliari, and also have one game fewer. Therefore, if they win in the next Serie A match, Cagliari will become the bottom-ranked club at this moment of the 2021-22 Serie A.
