Lautaro Matinez signs new Inter deal

FC Internazionale announced on their official site: “The Nerazzurri striker has extended his contract until 30 June 2026”. The Argentine forward was also excited to share that: “I'm really happy to be staying at this club for many years to come. See you at the stadium! Forza Inter!”. Following that, Martinez’s deal will run until 2026- 8 years after he made his Inter Milan bow, on 19 August 2018. Besides, the contract did not contain a release clause.

Martinez had previously been strongly connected to Barcelona. Meanwhile, rumors of interest from Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham circulated in the last transfer window. Finally, the 24-year-old player has committed his future to the Nerazzurri, who has remained to keep the former Racing Club’s star after seeing Romelu Lukaku depart for Chelsea in the Premier League. 

Signed from Racing in July 2018, the Argentine forward has scored 54 goals and had 15 assists in 144 games for the Nerazzurri in all competitions with the club. He featured in every Serie A game under coach Antonio Conte the previous season when they finished their 10-year wait for the Scudetto triumph. In addition, he also established himself as a permanent player who helped the Argentina national team to win the Copa America title after 28 years.  In this 2021-22 season, Martinez has had 5 goals in 12 games, with Inter Milan FC third in the table after 10 games, 7 points behind the top teams Napoli and AC Milan.
