Chelsea’s situation

Chelsea ranks 12th in the Premier League for goals scored, and the only players with more than three goals in all competitions are Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz. Finding the back of the net is a severe problem for Chelsea. It is clear that Potter's team needs more goal scorers, but the dearth of chances generated may be a bigger problem. Chelsea has surpassed their predicted goal total of 18.81, placing them higher than the league average (15th), which suggests that their forwards are not as underwhelming as might first appear.

Chelsea suffered nine major injuries

Following the injuries to Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic, Armando Broja, and most recently Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who missed the 4-0 FA Cup loss at Manchester City on Sunday due to a back issue, Chelsea's urgency in pursuing the 23-year-old increased. In addition to being eliminated from the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, Chelsea is currently ranked 10th in the Premier League, 10 points outside the top four.

The only realistic remaining opportunity for the west London team to win a trophy this year is in the Champions League, where they will play Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16.

Chelsea joins Joao Felix’s deal

With just one victory in their previous seven games in all competitions, Potter will be hoping their arrivals can enhance his team's form. Attack is undoubtedly an area that needs improvement, and owner Todd Boehly has already demonstrated his willingness to spend in an effort to strengthen Graham Potter's team.

In an effort to recover from the collapse that caused them to fall behind in the Premier League and be eliminated from the FA Cup, Chelsea is prepared to borrow Joao Felix from Atlético Madrid for the remainder of the season.

Chelsea wants to loan Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid

No buy option is anticipated to be part of Chelsea's agreement to borrow the money from Portugal for roughly €10 million (£8.8 million). Félix, who moved to Atlético from Benfica in July 2019 for a reported €126 million, has started seven of his team's 16 league games thus far.

Beside Chelsea, Manchester United was also one of the clubs that showed the most interest in Joao Felix’s deal. Joao Felix, 23, had been strongly connected with a high-profile transfer to Old Trafford in January, but the 23-year-old now appears to be moving to Chelsea after verbal negotiations with Atletico Madrid were successful. United tried to sign the Portuguese star but turned it down because of the loan fee the Spanish club wanted.

Importance of Felix

In 2019, the 23-year-old transferred from Benfica to Atletico Madrid for €126 million (£111 million).

Felix has made just seven La Liga starts for Atletico this year, but he was selected for the starting lineup against Barcelona on Sunday, a 1-0 loss at home. He has five goals and three assists in all competitions this season, but the LaLiga team is willing to let him move on loan in January due to his strained relationship with manager Diego Simeone.

Joao Felix is a versatile player

Felix is evaluated as a versatile player who can play in many positions such as a second striker, winger, or center forward. He meets the Chelsea’demand : "want right-back and midfielder".

"You’ve got to factor in Felix's wages. He earns more than £250,000 per week, so Chelsea would have to cover his wages as well. Chelsea have been criticized because they’re spending so much money in the transfer market, but they do have a strategy this month. What they want to sign is a wide player - I think that will be Felix. Ideally, they would like a right back as well and a midfielder," an expert explained.

Evaluation of Joao Felix’s deal

Felix’s deal is a win-win for both Atletico Madrid and Chelsea. For Chelsea, Loan Joao Felix will help them to have plan to make a new assessment and explore their alternatives over the summer. For Atletico Madrid, the amount of money they spent on Joao Felix is close to £120 million. They wouldn't receive close to that sum of money if they included an option price now or sold him now.

However, If Felix have good performance when he move to Chelsea, his value may dramatically increase after 6 months. Then Atletico Madrid will have the choice to retain this player to strengthen their squad or sell him for a large amount.

This plan is more reasonable in the context both Arsenal and Manchester United are interest and want to own Joao Felix.

Chelsea's another transfer

Félix, who can play as a second striker, winger, or center-forward, is not the only player Chelsea is interested in signing. This month, the club also signed promising midfielders Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama and David Datro Fofana.

Another top target is Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernández, though the Portuguese club has accused Chelsea of being disrespectful in their pursuit of the Argentinian and stated that he would not go until his buyout clause, which is reportedly worth €120 million, is satisfied.

Mykhailo Mudryk, a winger for Shakhtar Donetsk, has been the subject of fruitful negotiations, but he prefers to sign with Arsenal.
