Everton offers €20 million for an attacker from FC Lorient

Everton's desire to strengthen their attack is understandable given the Toffees' goal-scoring woes.

As they prepare for a fight for survival in the second half of the Premier League, Frank Lampard's team is in serious peril as they sit in the relegation zone. In order to strengthen their offense, Everton reportedly launched a bid for FC Lorient winger Dango Ouattara. In 18 games, Everton has scored just 14 goals. One of the primary factors contributing to the Merseysiders' relegation from the top flight has been goal scoring, or rather, the lack thereof. They currently score the second-fewest goals in the league, and if the offense does not get better, they will have a dark future.

Injury troubles have hampered Dominic Calvert-confidence Lewin's and athleticism in games. Even the wingers Demarai Gray, Dwight McNeil, and Anthony Gordon have fallen short. The strikers have been denied service and are under additional pressure to score goals as a result of the wingers' lack of attacking help. Richarlison left in the summer, and McNeil was brought in to replace him. However, the former Burnley player hasn't been able to match the attacking presence the Brazilian had in the opposing box.

Everton makes an offer for Lorient winger Dango Ouattara.

Gordon is incredibly talented but is unable to contribute in the last third. Gray has played reasonably well in recent games, but he continues to fumble the crucial last pass. Enhancing flank support is necessary, and Everton appear to be making progress in that area. The Premier League is reportedly interested in Lorient attacker Ouattara, according to Foot Mercato. Lorient, a Ligue 1 team, is doing well in the league as they are currently sixth with 31 points. With five goals and five assists in 16 games, Ouattara has been one of the top players for the French team.

Everton make offer for Ouattara

Winger Ouattara began his career with Majestic FC in his native Burkina Faso before transferring to his current employers in Brittany in 2020. He was born in Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso. He played with Lorient's B team during his first season in France, but since moving up to the senior squad, he has made 47 appearances and scored seven goals, including five times in 16 games so far this season.

The 5' 10" youngster, who won't turn 21 until February 11 but already has five goals in 11 international games for his nation, mainly plays on the right side but can also switch to the left or even be used as a center forward. The potential of Ouattara can be seen by comparing his statistics to those of players in the Premier League in the same position using Comparisonator's Virtual Transfer tool.

In terms of goals per 90 minutes, he would be sixth, 0.32 seconds behind the leader. Ouattara ranks fifth in shots (2.53), behind Antony (3.3), Maddison (3.16), and Salah (2.81), and sixth in shots on target (1.04), behind the same trio of Antony (1.45), Maddison (1.22), and Salah. These statistics suggest that Ouattara is a fairly active player for his side (1.55). Only Bobby Reid of Fulham (0.38) can surpass Ouattara's 0.19 headed shots per 90 minutes, moving him ahead of Daniel James of Craven Cottage (0.17).

Another strength is running with the ball. Ouattara is ranked fifth for both dribbles (5.7), behind Adama Traore of Wolverhampton Wanderers (7.19), Olise (6.29), and Leon Bailey of Aston Villa (5.77) as well as successful dribbles (3.24), behind Traore (4.33), Olise (3.87), and Everton's own Demarai Gray (3.82). It may be somewhat revealing that Ouattara also places lower than Gray in terms of attacking actions (9.91, which places him fifth), with Traore topping the list with 12.89; the Everton player second with 11.29; Bailey third with 11.16; and Ouattara again placing fifth with 4.4 after Traore (6.16); Gray (5.98); and Olise (4.72). While he ranks an amazing fourth for box touches (4.47), Gray is still ahead of him in second place with 4.98 touches between Salah on 6.12 and Saka on 4.54.
