The current situation of Tottenham and Leicester City

Poor performances have plagued both teams since domestic football resumed following the World Cup. Although they had an outstanding win against Crystal Palace in the 19th round, they drew 2-2 with Brentford and then fell to Aston Villa 2-0.

Meanwhile, Newcastle defeated Leicester 3-0 at home on Boxing Day. After that, Wout Faes scored two own goals in a 2-1 loss to Liverpool on the road. Aleksandar Mitrovic scored the lone goal in Fulham's 1-0 victory on Tuesday, handing Brendan Rodgers' team their third straight loss.

It is obvious that players are needed for both Tottenham and Leicester in January. They will contribute to raising the standard of the first team while also encouraging the existing group to perform better as a result of increased competition. And Azzedine Ounahi is an ideal choice for both teams.

Leicester City and Tottenham had to suffer defeats after World Cup 2022

The center midfielder, who presently represents Angers in Ligue 1, is in high demand following his excellent World Cup exploits for Morocco. He participated in all of Morocco's games as they became the first African country to advance to the semifinals, where they fell to France.

Tottenham and Leicester City’s steps to push owning Azzedine Ounahi

According to reports in France and Ounahi‘s teammate in Angers, Ounahi will lobby for a transfer out of the club to join a more competitive team. Ounahi might play in England. He has been linked to West Ham, Leicester, and Newcastle as prospective suitors.

Leicester has recently made the most effort to sign the 22-year-old. However, the Daily Express, citing Italian publication La Repubblica, claims that Spurs are "interfering" with Leicester's efforts to close a deal.

Both Tottenham and Leicester City want to own Azzedine Ounahi

Spurs manager Fabio Paratici has already initiated exploratory discussions with Angers following Leicester's initial foray. This creates the prospect that Spurs will derail Leicester's recruitment strategy and acquire Ounahi first.

Despite recent problems for both teams, the Spurs appear to be the more appealing destination for him right now.Leicester is in 13th place and has little chance of making it to any European competitions. Spurs, though, are now in fifth place and have the opportunity to improve and qualify for the Champions League for the next year.

Conte would also be wise to sign Ounahi. To compete with and back up players like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Yves Bissouma, he needs a new central midfielder. Pape Sarr and Oliver Skipp don't seem to be up to par at the moment.

Napoli is another opponent in this race

Ounahi might end up moving somewhere, which is unfortunate for Spurs and Leicester. According to the report, Napoli are the favorites to sign Ounahi. This is due to the fact that the player and his agency have already said "yes."

Napoli also participates this deal

Spurs and Leicester have some optimism thanks to Napoli's financial difficulties. They cannot spend excessive amounts of money on Ounahi. Instead, they aim to acquire him for under €15 million (£13.2 million) and return him on loan to Angers for the rest of the campaign.

If Spurs or Leicester offer more than £13.2 million for him than Napoli, the breakout World Cup hero could end up joining them. According to a source, the Spurs have chosen which of their right backs will be sold in January.
