Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Highlights

Real Madrid defeated rival Atletico Madrid 3-1 in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals on Thursday, but it took extra time to complete the comeback. Atletico Madrid's first-half goal by former Los Blancos striker Alvaro Morata sent Los Blancos out of the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Rodrygo's outstanding solo performance in the Spanish capital added a further 30 minutes before Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior finished the turnaround for the home team. Diego Simeone's visitors will be disappointed they didn't make it to the last four, as Carlo Ancelotti's team will play in the semi-finals alongside Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao, and Osasuna.

Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Summary

Both teams will have the opportunity to demonstrate their goals for this season in the King's Cup quarterfinal matchup between the two Madrid teams. It is hardly unexpected that both companies have launched their strongest lineup as a result. While Atletico Madrid substituted Morata for Griezmann in attack, Real Madrid continued to deploy the customary attacking combination of Valverde, Benzema, and Vinicius. After Joao Felix and Cunha depart, these are the two best options for the away team's striker position.

Real Madrid was the more aggressive team, and in the ninth minute, they came close to scoring first. Vinicius and Benzema worked nicely together, but Reinildo tripped the ball just as Benzema was about to shoot at Oblak.

From a position that seemed innocuous, the away team quickly gained the lead. Alvaro Morata scored a close-range goal to shatter the previous team's net in the 19th minute on a Nahuel Molina assist. The players wearing red and white striped shirts had a tight-knit line on the right flank before that.

Despite their best efforts, Real Madrid was unable to tie the score in the first half. Instead, Morata once more put them in danger. The former Chelsea striker missed a chance to score twice in the 33rd minute as a ball came in from Lemar's left wing.

Real Madrid had some chances at the start of the second half, but Benzema and Vinicius were unable to take advantage. Coach Carlo Ancelotti was compelled to switch to Rodrygo Goes and Marco Asensio in the middle of the half to reverse the situation, and one of them stood out. Rodrygo scored to restore a 1-1 tie in the 79th minute by dribbling the ball alone between Witsel and Hermoso and then tricking Savic and Molina.

After 90 minutes, the teams play extra time if the score is still 1-1. However, center back Savic's two yellow cards and subsequent dismissal after two minutes put the visitors at a disadvantage. After an Asensio and Vinicius free kick combination put Real Madrid ahead of the opposition in the 104th minute, Karim Benzema seized the chance to score.

As soon as all of the away team's attempts are ineffective, the game is deemed to be decided. Vinicius added the White Vulture's third goal toward the game's conclusion. In order to breach the 16m50 zone, he chose to lead the ball, removing at least three opponents before "threading" Reinildo in the decisive phase to beat Oblak. Real Madrid advanced to the Copa del Rey semifinals after winning this game.
