Reports: LeBron James Agrees to 2-Year, $104 Million Deal to Remain with Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers and superstar forward LeBron James have reportedly reached a new agreement. According to multiple reports, James and the Lakers have agreed to a two-year, $104 million deal that includes a no-trade clause. This contract, the maximum allowable for James with the Lakers, extends his tenure with the team potentially until he reaches the age of 41 if he plays out the entire contract.
ESPN also noted that the Lakers and James' agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, may have negotiated a slightly reduced salary compared to the maximum allowable, which could help the team maintain roster flexibility and avoid the luxury tax implications of the second salary cap apron.
Overall, it is expected that James will earn approximately $50 million for the 2024-25 season, bringing his total career on-court earnings to around $530 million. This milestone makes James the first player in NBA history to surpass the $500 million mark in career earnings.
James will have a player option next summer and a no-trade clause as part of his new two-year, $104M maximum deal with the Lakers, sources said. https://t.co/Fm9VEVSkr7

His decision to remain with the Lakers came as no surprise, as several sources had indicated that LeBron James intended to negotiate a new contract with the team after opting out of his previous deal for the 2024-25 season.
In a historic move, the Lakers drafted Bronny James, the eldest son of LeBron James, in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft. This selection positions the Lakers to potentially create the first-ever father-son pairing on the court in NBA history.
