The Indiana Pacers suffered another defeat at the hands of the New York Knicks on Wednesday night, falling 130–121 and slipping into a 2–0 deficit in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Although the Pacers held a 10-point lead at halftime, they struggled in the third quarter, being outscored by the Knicks 36–18, and couldn't mount a comeback in the final period.

Following the game, Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton addressed reporters and refused to attribute the outcome to officiating. Despite several contentious calls against Indiana, Haliburton maintained that his team had opportunities to win but failed to capitalize.

"We were right there to win the game," Haliburton said. "Would I like more consistency [from the officiating]? Yeah. But let’s not pretend that’s the reason we lost. We just didn’t play well enough."

Despite the setback, Haliburton expressed confidence in his team's ability to bounce back.

"It’s 2–0. We’re heading back to Indy. I like us in any matchup. I’m not worried."

One call during the game particularly frustrated the Pacers, leading to the ejection of head coach Rick Carlisle. With just over a minute remaining and Indiana trying to cut into a 124–118 deficit, it seemed that the Pacers had gained a possession after Knicks center Isaiah Hartenstein was called for a double-dribble.

While it appeared that Hartenstein did not commit the violation, even those adhering strictly to the rule book would find it hard to justify a carry on the play. The whistle blew, signaling the call. However, after a brief discussion among the referees, the play was deemed an inadvertent whistle, awarding possession to the Knicks.

The TNT broadcast team was perplexed by the decision. While the whistle might have been incorrect, it was certainly not inadvertent. Carlisle expressed similar sentiments directly to the referee.

Carlisle was ejected shortly after for continuing to argue his case. Post-game, he emphasized that his team wasn't receiving favorable calls against the Knicks, a big-market team.

Carlisle had previously voiced concerns about the officiating earlier in the series. Game 3 is scheduled to commence on Friday night in Indiana.
