The Turkish Süper Lig is a professional association football league for Turkish clubs. The Turkish Football Federation is in charge of this top-level in the Turkish football league system. Every year, twenty clubs fight for the title of champion, with three clubs being promoted and relegated from the 1. Lig (the second Turkish football tier). Turkish Super Lig
In 1959, the competition was founded as the Millî Lig (National League) - the first Turkish professional nationwide league. The Turkish Football Championship and the National Division, both past top-tier national championships, were succeeded by this league. Although there have been 73 clubs joining the Turkey Super Lig, only six among them have won the title so far: Galatasaray (22 times), Fenerbahçe (19 times), Beşiktaş (16 times), Trabzonspor (6 times), Bursaspor (1 time), and İstanbul Başakşehir (1 time).

How is the format of the Turkey Super Lig
Until 2020, the Süper Lig was made up of 18 clubs. Starting in 2020, the league has 20 clubs. Each club plays each other twice (a double round-robin system) during the season (from August to May), once at their home stadium and once at their opponent’s stadium, for a total of 40 games. A win earns three points, while a tie earns one. A loss does not result in any points being awarded. Total points, head-to-head record, goal difference, and goals scored are the order in which teams are ranked. The team with the most points at the end of the season is proclaimed champion. If the points are tied, the winner is determined by the head-to-head record and subsequently the goal difference. The worst three teams in the 1. Lig are relegated, and the top two teams in the 1. Lig, together with the winner of the play-offs between the third and sixth-ranked 1. Lig clubs are promoted in their stead.
The champion team qualifies for the Champions League group stage, the runner-up is eligible for the Champions League's second qualifying round, the third place is for the Europa League's third qualifying round, and the fourth-place enters the Europa League's second qualifying round. The winner of the Turkish Cup earns a fifth position in the Europa League play-off round. If that team has already qualified for European competition based on their league result, the next highest-ranked team in the league will take their spot.
