How is the format of the Cypriot Cup?
- 1934/35- 1983/84: the competition was a pure knockout event. Each tie was played as a single leg in all rounds, with each leg taking place at the home ground of one of the two teams, based on the draw results. Each tiebreaker advanced to the next round. If a match ended in a tie, extra time was played. If extra time finished in a tie, there would be a rematch at the home stadium of the club that had been away for the first game.
- 1984/85- 2001/02: According to the draw results, the preliminary rounds were played as a single leg at the home field of one of the two teams. All ties were two-legged from the first round onwards, with the exception of the final, which was a single match.
- 2002/03- 2005/06: It was a single-elimination tournament. The preliminary rounds were contested as a single leg and were held at one of the two teams' home grounds, based on the draw results. Except for the round of 16, in which the teams were divided into four groups of four, all ties were two-legged from the first round. Each group's teams faced off against each other twice, once at home and once on the road. Each group's champion and runner-up proceeded to the quarter-finals. There was only one match in the final.
- Since 2011/12: The competition has been a pure knockout event. According to the draw results, the preliminary round is played as a single leg at the home field of one of the two teams. All ties are two-legged from the first round onwards, with the exception of the final, which is contested in a single match.
