The England Football League 1

What’s popping with the England Football League 1, only sitting behind EFL Championship and the prestigious EPL itself in the hierarchy ladder of the English Football

England Football League 1

England Football League 1

The structure of EFL League 1

Like its precedent league, there are 24 teams in the EFL League 1 which will play in a round-robin system, which means each team will play each other twice (once at their home field and once at their respective opponents’).

The league’s standing is based on points, teams get 3 points per win, 1 point is awarded to both teams when they draw and naturally none is given to the loser. In the rare case of two teams sharing a standing, the standing will be decided based upon their GD, Head to Head record and in the unlikely state where it still has not been decided, they will have to play a play-off match to settle the standings.

England football league 1 standings

The standing of teams based on points

Explanation of the EFL League 1 tables’ Acronyms:

  1. GF: Goal for = Goal scored

  2. GA: Goal against = Goal conceded

  3. GD: Goal different = Different between Goal For and Goal Against (+ means they score more than being scored/ - means they got scored more than they score)

The prize and cash distribution

24 teams get paid 645.000 pounds “solidarity payments” alone for participating from the Premier League and 677.000 pounds regardless of the placing. The top 2 teams get promoted to the EFL Championship and the bottom 3 teams get relegated to the League 2. Whilst 3rd to 6th ranking will have a series off play-off to determine which team to be promoted.
