Guedes Scores Twice as Wolves Defeat Burnley

The Portugal forward, who has had loan spells at Benfica and Villarreal since his last goal for Wolves against Liverpool, scored his first two goals for the club. He netted his first after hooking in a cross from Brazilian debutant Pedro Lima and added a second by running onto a Daniel Podence through-ball and lifting it past Burnley keeper Vaclav Hladky.

Guedes left the pitch to a standing ovation with 15 minutes remaining.

Hladky, who could have done better with the opening goal, earlier made a crucial double save to keep Burnley in the game, parrying Podence’s curling shot and then tipping Lima’s rebound onto the post.

Wolves faced a setback as midfielder Boubacar Traore went off injured late in the first half.

This news comes as Wolves are reportedly in advanced talks for a £21 million move for Fluminense midfielder Andre, 23.
