Having come off the bench in defeats to Brighton and Tottenham, Senegalese international Iliman Ndiaye, a £15m summer signing from Marseille, made a strong impression with his full debut by scoring Everton’s second goal in the 74th minute. Ndiaye collected the ball 35 yards out, skillfully maneuvered past defender Joseph Olowu, and finished coolly.

His start was one of six changes made by manager Sean Dyche, who also handed full debuts to Jesper Lindstrom and Jake O’Brien. Despite the changes, Everton's lineup remained robust, though they struggled to break down Doncaster until the 53rd minute.

Dwight McNeil opened the scoring, celebrating after claiming Tim Iroegbunam’s shot from the edge of the box deflected off his shin into the net. Ndiaye had previously set up Everton’s best chance in the first half, creating an opportunity for James Garner whose effort was blocked, and his excellent second-half cross was missed by striker Beto.

Beto eventually added another goal in the 84th minute, securing a victory that should boost morale at Goodison Park. Doncaster, from League Two, put up a good fight, with their best chance falling to Jack Senior in the first half, only to be denied by Jordan Pickford.

Dyche, whose team is currently bottom of the Premier League with no goals scored and seven conceded after two matches, described the win as a "mini step forward" and emphasized the importance of every player evolving to meet future challenges.
