Saka Nominated for PFA Young Player of the Year Award

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka and Chelsea's Cole Palmer have been shortlisted for the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Men's Young Player of the Year award.

Bukayo Saka has been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Saka, the winner of the award for the 2022-23 season, has made the men's six-player shortlist after netting 16 goals and providing nine assists from the wing in the Premier League last season.

Chelsea's James is also in contention for back-to-back PFA Women's Young Player of the Year awards, thanks to her impressive 13 goals in 16 games, which played a crucial role in her team's Women's Super League triumph.

The winners will be announced on Tuesday, August 20.

Palmer's Stellar Year, Man Utd Pair Make Men's Shortlist

England forward Cole Palmer, 22, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City on September 1 last year, had a standout Premier League season, contributing to 33 goals and scoring 22 times.

He and Bukayo Saka, also 22, brought youthful energy to England's squad during their run to the Euro 2024 final.

Manchester United's nominees on the PFA men's shortlist are Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, both key figures in their FA Cup victory.

Midfielder Mainoo, 19, emerged as a vital part of Erik ten Hag's team and featured in England's Euros campaign. He scored the second goal in United's 2-1 FA Cup final win over Manchester City in May.

Winger Garnacho, 20, scored the opening goal in the cup final and was a constant threat on both flanks, tallying 10 goals across all competitions.

Michael Olise, who moved from Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich this summer, is also a nominee. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder netted 10 goals and provided six assists in 19 league appearances before his move to Germany.

Completing the list is Joao Pedro of Brighton and Hove Albion. The 22-year-old Brazilian forward scored 20 goals in all competitions for the Seagulls.
