Leicester City F.C.: the most basic things you should know

This section will give you an overview of Leicester City F.C., from their origin to the greatest achievements of all that time.

History

Leicester City Football Club (abbreviated as LCFC) is a professional English football club based in the namesake city in the East Midlands, England. The club was first introduced as Leicester Fosse F.C. in 1884, in which they played on a field near Fosse Road, hence the name. In 1891, they moved to Filbert Street football stadium. In 1919, this club officially got its current name, Leicester City.

Not long after that, in 2002, LCFC stadium was changed to the nearby Walkers Stadium, which was changed to the current name the King Power Stadium in 2011 with a capacity to contain 32, 261 seats. Leicester City is called The Foxes, which is also a feature on their logo.

Although Jamie Vardy is the top scorer of Leicester in the 2020-2021 season, he hasn't been listed in the top players who are awarded the Man of the Match. Instead, Johnny Evans, Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, and Kasper Schmeichel have shared three times receiving this award.

Normally, the Player of the Match is picked from the winning team of a single match with the most outstanding performance, but sometimes the chosen player can come from the other team.

Johnny Evans, who used to play for Man United and Sunderland, now is awarded the Man of the Match three times while he is a part of Leicester City F.C.
