Modric Commits to Real Madrid with One-Year Extension

Real Madrid announced that Luka Modric has agreed to extend his contract, keeping him at the club until the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. During the Champions League celebration at the Bernabéu on June 2, Modric hinted at his decision to stay, thanking the fans and expressing his anticipation for the next season.

At 38 years old, Modric has amassed an impressive collection of trophies during his 12-year tenure with Real Madrid, including six Champions League titles and four LaLiga championships. His leadership was pivotal in Croatia's journey to the 2018 World Cup final, where he also won the Ballon d'Or.

Despite playing a reduced role this season, starting 18 LaLiga games and making 14 appearances as a substitute, Modric remains highly regarded by coach Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti praised Modric not only for his exceptional skill as a player but also for his character, emphasizing their strong relationship.

Modric began his career at Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Tottenham in 2008 and eventually joining Real Madrid in 2012. Despite initial skepticism, he quickly established himself as one of LaLiga's top performers, contributing significantly to Madrid's successes, including their recent Champions League triumphs.

Last summer, Modric received offers from the Saudi Pro League but opted to extend his stay with Real Madrid for another year, affirming his commitment to the club.
