8 Major Clubs Progress to Round of 16 in Europa League 2022/23

The Europa League play-off knock-out matches have come to an end with tickets to the next round claimed by Manchester United, Sporting, Juventus, and other prominent European football teams.

The UEFA will conduct the draw for the Round of 16 at its headquarters located in the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland. This event will take place on Friday, February 24, starting at 12pm CET (6am EST, 3am PT). The draw will be available for live streaming on the UEFA website.

At Old Trafford Stadium, Antony's long-range goal secured a 2-1 victory for Manchester United over Barcelona in the second leg play-off match, earning them a spot in the round of 16 for the Europa League 2022/23.

Sporting, the Portuguese representative, disappointed in the first leg when they were held to a 1-1 draw by underdog Midtjylland. However, in the second leg, HLV Ruben Amorim's team showed their true strength with an impressive 4-0 victory away from home.

Sevilla, the La Liga representative, played poorly in the second leg and suffered a 0-2 defeat to PSV. However, it was not enough for Ruud van Nistelrooy's team to defeat the most traditional team in the Europa League. Sevilla advanced thanks to their 3-0 victory in the first leg.

Juventus: A hat-trick by Angel Di Maria helped the "Old Lady" beat Nantes away from home, securing their spot in the next round with a total score of 4-1 after two legs. The Turin-based club showed their determination to win the Europa Conference League, a competition they have not won in 30 years.

Leverkusen: The Bundesliga representative drew with Monaco 5-5 after two legs, before beating the Monegasque team 5-4 in a penalty shootout to make their second consecutive appearance in the Europa League Round of 16.

Manchester United: After 15 years, MU finally defeated Barca in an official match. The 2-1 victory in the second leg helped the "Red Devils" surpass the La Liga team with a total score of 4-3 after two legs, earning a spot in the Europa League Round of 16 in 2022/23.

Union Berlin: The Bundesliga phenomenon this season continued to show impressive form, sinking reigning Dutch champions Ajax 3-1 at home to qualify for the Round of 16 in a cup competition for the first time in their history.

AS Roma: Two goals by Paulo Dybala and Andrea Belotti helped Jose Mourinho's team beat Salzburg with a total score of 2-1 after two legs.

Shakhtar Donetsk: An outstanding performance by goalkeeper Anatolii Trubin, who made three crucial saves in a penalty shootout, helped Shakhtar defeat Rennes 5-4 to advance to the Round of 16.
