Portsmouth's match with Millwall was delayed due to a power issue at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth's Championship clash with Millwall was postponed on Wednesday night after a power failure left fans in darkness for nearly an hour.

Sky Sports, covering the match, reported that the club was "looking into an issue" at the stadium shortly after the scheduled 7:45pm kick-off.

Portsmouth issued a statement just before 7:50pm, explaining: "There is currently an issue with the power at Fratton Park and it is being looked into. We will update supporters in due course."

However, fans remained in the dark—both literally and figuratively—until nearly an hour later when the clubs confirmed the game would not go ahead. Portsmouth later posted on X: "Tonight’s match against Millwall has been postponed for safety reasons due to circumstances beyond the club’s control. We will update fans further in due course."

Millwall also issued a statement, saying: "Millwall Football Club regrets to inform supporters that tonight's match has been postponed due to a power failure in the local area. We thank fans for their patience and support this evening.

"Fans in the away end will be safely escorted to the railway station once the home fans have left Fratton Park."

There had been some hope that the match would proceed after some of the floodlights came back on about half an hour later, with players from both teams warming up on the pitch.

However, those hopes were soon dashed, and the fixture will now need to be rescheduled, likely amid the busy festive period.
