Erik ten Hag has returned to his Manchester home to collect his belongings, three weeks after being dismissed as Manchester United manager.

Following his sacking on October 28, after United's 2-1 defeat to West Ham, Ten Hag headed back to the Netherlands to spend time in his hometown of Haaksbergen. During his time away, he was spotted in the stands at two Eredivisie matches.

Now, after some time to reflect, the 54-year-old has returned to Manchester to clear out his former residence. He and his wife, Bianca, were seen dining at their favorite Italian restaurant, Piccolino, in Hale, Greater Manchester, on Monday night. Ten Hag was dressed in the same Adidas gilet he wore during his final game in charge of United.

His visit to Manchester coincided with Ruben Amorim’s first training session at United's Carrington facility on Monday. Amorim, who was appointed shortly after Ten Hag's sacking, has already begun implementing changes, including switching to a 3-4-3 formation, departing from Ten Hag's 4-2-3-1 setup.

Although Ten Hag and his coaching staff received a significant pay-out after their dismissal, the Dutchman appears eager to return to management and has been busy attending live football matches in the Netherlands.

First, Ten Hag attended the Eredivisie match between Heracles and NAC Breda, the closest fixture to his hometown of Haaksbergen. A week later, he traveled to watch FC Twente face Ajax, another of his former clubs.

The former Manchester United manager was reportedly "devastated" by his sacking and expressed his emotions in a heartfelt message to the fans shortly after Ruben Amorim was announced as his successor. He thanked the supporters, saying, "I want to thank you for giving me this feeling and for your support.

"I also want to thank the staff in every department of the club for their unwavering support in good times and bad,” he wrote. “We won two trophies – achievements that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Of course, my dream was to bring more trophies to the cabinet. Unfortunately, that dream has come to an end.

"I wish all Manchester United fans nothing but success, trophies and glory. Your support and the warmth I received from everyone at the club helped me feel at home. Thank you for this chapter in my life. Erik."
