During the summer, Mbappe made the decisive choice not to exercise the mutual option to extend his current contract until 2025. Consequently, he is now on track to depart on a free transfer at the end of this season.

This decision sparked outrage from PSG, leading to his exclusion from the first-team squad as the club sought to secure a lucrative transfer. PSG even accepted a world-record bid of €300 million (£259 million) from Al Hilal, a deal he never entertained discussing with the Saudi Pro League side.

Mbappe's stance from the outset has been to complete the current season with PSG before his departure, while the club vehemently expressed their reluctance to lose him without a transfer fee.

Betimate has learned that during discussions with his mother and agent, Fayza Lamari, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi conveyed that Mbappe would not wear the PSG jersey again.

However, in recent weeks, as it became increasingly clear that Mbappe would not leave during the summer transfer window, with long-term admirers Real Madrid failing to make an offer, talks resumed.

Betimate understands that PSG continued their efforts to persuade Mbappe to sign a new contract, which might have included a release clause for a future transfer at a predetermined fee. However, it seems this option is not currently on the table.

Nevertheless, sources suggest that Mbappe has agreed to forgo an €80 million bonus owed to him over the course of this season, resulting in a €100 million saving for PSG.

With Mbappe's return to the pitch, Al-Khelaifi has once again expressed admiration for his star forward: "Kylian Mbappe is an exceptional player and an outstanding individual. The unity within the PSG team, both on and off the pitch, has never been stronger."

However, despite his return, Mbappe remains unwavering in his decision not to renew his contract, signaling that his time in Paris is drawing to a close."

WHAT LIES AHEAD FOR MBAPPE?

Al-Khelaifi cautioned the 24-year-old that he risked spending an entire season as a substitute if he declined to pledge his loyalty to the club. However, he was swiftly reintegrated into Luis Enrique's lineup and has already netted five goals in three Ligue 1 fixtures this season. Given this recent turn of events, PSG might contemplate relegating him from the squad or may be compelled to permit his continued participation due to his indispensable role within the team.
