However, given the relentless nature of England’s top flight, several players have struggled to hit their stride. Unsurprisingly, many of them come from relegation-threatened teams, as well as underperforming giants like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

As we approach the business end of the season, let’s take a look at the Premier League’s worst-performing players based on their overall FotMob ratings since the campaign kicked off in August. From Rasmus Højlund to Kalvin Phillips, here are the 15 players who have struggled the most so far.

Starting with the 15th worst-performing player in the Premier League this season, West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola was once considered a rising star at Paris Saint-Germain, but his fortunes in East London have been far from ideal.

Meanwhile, Wout Faes has long been viewed as a weak link in Leicester’s defense, and the numbers back it up—his FotMob rating of 6.34 since the start of the 2024/25 campaign highlights his struggles as the Foxes fight for survival.

Dating back to early February, Radu Drăgușin was statistically the worst-performing player in the Europa League, and his poor form has carried over into domestic football. The Tottenham defender has earned a rating of just 6.33.

He’s joined on the list by Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee, who, despite scoring on his debut, has failed to provide a consistent goal threat. Ipswich Town midfielder Jack Taylor also makes the cut, with a rating of 6.32.

Desperate to secure their Premier League status, Leicester City turned to Atalanta centre-back Caleb Okoli in the summer. Despite being uncapped at the senior international level, the Italian has bolstered the Foxes' backline, even attracting early-season interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

However, that hasn't spared him from ranking among the league's worst performers. Okoli, 23, has logged over 1,000 minutes across 16 appearances, yet his struggles are reflected in a FotMob rating of 6.31—placing him 10th on the list of the Premier League’s lowest-rated players this season.

9. Hee-chan Hwang, Wolverhampton Wanderers

FotMob rating: 6.30

After Raul Jimenez’s move to Fulham in the summer of 2023, Hee-chan Hwang stepped up as Wolverhampton Wanderers’ primary goal threat, netting 12 times in 29 Premier League appearances last season. However, with Matheus Cunha now leading the line, Hwang’s influence in the final third has waned.

In 17 appearances this campaign—totaling 612 minutes on the pitch—the 69-cap South Korea international has found the net just twice, highlighting his reduced attacking impact. At 29, the versatile forward still has time to reignite his career at Molineux, but he faces an uphill battle to reclaim his former prominence.

The clearest indicator of Adam Armstrong’s struggles as Southampton’s main striker in the Premier League is his loan move to West Bromwich Albion for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. The Baggies, competing in the Championship, represent a level where the forward has historically thrived.

During his time on the south coast, the Englishman managed just two goals and two assists across 20 appearances, often finding the challenge posed by top-flight defenders too difficult to overcome. His struggles were reflected in a low overall rating of 6.30—a figure he won’t have the chance to improve after sealing his temporary exit in January.

Brought in to help Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town survive in the Premier League, Kalvin Phillips arrived on loan after an underwhelming stint at West Ham. The Tractor Boys were hoping to tap into the quality that earned him 31 England caps since 2020.

A two-time Premier League winner with Manchester City, Phillips has struggled to rediscover the form that made him a fan favorite at Leeds United. Since the start of the season, he has rarely completed a full 90 minutes under McKenna and has yet to cement himself as a key figure in Suffolk.

4. Cameron Archer, Southampton

The Turkish international’s talent is undeniable, but as the saying goes, availability is the best ability.

Since making his move to the south coast permanent after a six-month loan spell last season, the former Manchester City prospect has featured just 17 times—mostly from the bench—contributing to three goals. Once back to full fitness, he’ll undoubtedly have a role to play in Bournemouth’s unexpected push for European football.

2. Vladimir Coufal, West Ham United

With former Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka joining the ranks, West Ham’s Vladimir Coufal was always going to face stiff competition for game time this season. The 32-year-old right-back has frequently found himself on the bench, first under Julen Lopetegui and now under Graham Potter’s management.

Despite playing a key role in West Ham’s Europa Conference League triumph in 2022/23, Coufal has managed just 733 minutes of Premier League action this term, earning a modest 6.15 rating.
