Argentina won the 2022 World Cup in a thrilling match against France on December 18 in the evening. Lionel Messi was a major factor in the team's ability to win the championship. Despite being 35 years old, the team's best player becomes better every year. Thanks to the following diet and exercise advice, Messi looks better and more luminous than ever, and he doesn't seem like he's going to stop anytime soon.

Messi's training regime

Messi does not enjoy physical training as much as his former rival in La Liga, Cristiano Ronaldo, who is known for his rigorous training regime. However, he still does some exercises under the supervision of a coach.

According to Pinata, the Argentine player's exercises are mainly to ensure his body will always keep up with speed. Before every game, he worked on strengthening his sprint and extension to increase his speed.

Messi always focuses on practicing his pace.

The entire workout is divided into different sections with specific exercises. He does plank exercises, bends, hamstring stretches, and thigh lifts as his fundamental motions. He also does squats and hurdle jumps to build stronger muscles in his legs. He often carries out a variety of sprints to conclude the first training session.

The next part is an exercise that increases linear speed while maximizing multi-directional movement. To strengthen his legs, Messi performs activities like squats and jumping rope. He also runs over obstacles to improve flexibility. At the end of each training session, he drank a lot of water to keep his body hydrated and jogged for about 10 minutes to cool down.

Jumping rope is Messi's favorite exercise.

Messi's diet

Since working with Messi in 2014, Italian nutritionist Giuliano Poser has "revolutionized" the Argentine international's diet. He identified five main foods as the foundation: water, olive oil, whole grains, fresh fruits, and fresh vegetables.

He said Messi also cut sugar from his daily diet because "sugar is something that will destroy muscles and should be avoided as far as possible." He claims that players do not consume refined flours because it is difficult to find uncontaminated wheat these days.

Messi always adheres to a healthy diet.

Like many nutritionists who work with athletes, he recommends that Messi not eat too much meat, which is a common practice in South America and Spain.

"The amount of meat that Argentines and Uruguayans consume each day is considered too much and difficult to digest," he said.

Messi has been a member of Barcelona for 21 years, and the team has disclosed that his "favorite recipe" is roasted chicken with root vegetables. On the team's website, Barca shared this recipe with the supporters. The portion contains four chicken thighs, 700–800 grams of sweet potato, an onion, a bunch of carrots, four smashed garlic cloves, 30 g of olive oil, salt, and fresh thyme.

Messi's favourite dish according to Barcelona.

The recipe with the above ingredients is also very simple. Messi's chef preheats the oven to 200 degrees Celsius, puts oil and salt in a baking tray, then adds chopped vegetables and chicken. All ingredients are baked for 45 minutes at 190 degrees Celsius.

Messi also said he loves Argentina's Milanesa specialty. This is a thinly fried beef fillet with bread crumbs. In the past, he has admitted difficulty eliminating beef from his diet.

"What you should put into your body at 18 or 19 is very different from what you should eat at 27," he says.

In place of carbonated drinks, Messi is said to drink Yerba Mate tea, a caffeinated South American beverage. In addition, the consumption of alcohol is completely prohibited. Messi also gave up pizza, one of his other favorite foods.

Messi is said to be abig fan of Yerba Mate tea.
