Arne Slot has downplayed worries about Liverpool's lack of transfer activity this summer.

Arne Slot has responded to Liverpool fans’ concerns about the lack of transfer activity by emphasizing his high standards for new signings and expressing confidence in the current squad's ability to meet their objectives.

Speaking in Pittsburgh before the first match of Liverpool’s three-stop U.S. tour against Real Betis on Friday, Slot explained that he is not looking to make signings just for the sake of it. He clarified that his current priority is to assess the existing squad, which he believes is already strong.

Slot noted, “I want to assess the current group, but many players aren’t here. I’ve inherited a very good team, so finding players of equal or higher quality isn’t straightforward. Richard Hughes, our sporting director, is working diligently on this and keeps me informed. I’m happy with the team we have, but it would be surprising if we don’t add any players.”

Liverpool are missing 11 senior players during their U.S. tour, including Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Darwin Nunez, and Alexis Mac Allister, who are on holiday after international tournaments. Diogo Jota is expected to arrive in Pittsburgh soon, while Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate will join the squad in Philadelphia next week. Andy Robertson is on the tour but is sidelined due to a minor ankle injury, though he remains involved as a mentor for younger players. He is expected to be fit for Liverpool's Premier League opener against newly-promoted Ipswich.

Slot added: ‘Many things will stay the same when it comes to style with every manager having their own ideas. Players work really hard, we’re looking forward to the game to see if we can bring some positives to the game.

‘I don’t think any player has surprised me. Many young players have joined us and a few have surprised me… in a positive way of course. But if your next question is going to be “who are they?” then you won’t get the answer!’

Liverpool youngster Luke Chambers is currently on tour with the team but is anticipated to join League One side Wigan on loan after the trip. The 19-year-old, who played for Wigan during the latter half of last season, opted to return to Shaun Maloney’s squad despite interest from Championship clubs.
