Ivan Toney is moving to the Saudi Pro League.

Ivan Toney has agreed to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, ending a year-long transfer saga. Brentford will receive £40 million for the striker, who will sign a four-year contract with his new club. With the combined transfer fee and wages, the total value of the move is estimated at £100 million.

Toney has been pushing for a transfer for much of the past year, hoping to secure a move to a bigger Premier League club like Arsenal or Manchester United. However, neither club showed serious interest in the 28-year-old, who represented England at Euro 2024 this summer.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has omitted Toney from both matchday squads so far this season. Before Brentford's recent loss to Liverpool, Frank acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Toney's future, hinting that the striker was likely on his way out, even with the injury to his replacement, Igor Thiago.

"Ivan trained the whole week," Frank stated. "He trained with a good attitude in every aspect. He could be involved, or he could not be involved.

"He could be here after August 30 and he could not be here. Basically, everything is up in the air. I've said the whole time that if he's here I'm very happy, if he's not here then I'm happy on his behalf. Who knows, let's see, let's see what will happen."

Toney also missed Wednesday's Carabao Cup victory over Colchester United, though several top players were rested for the match. After the game, Frank declined to comment on Toney's future, which now appears to have finally been resolved.

“Similar stand to yesterday. I am not speaking about Ivan,” Frank insisted. “I want to speak about the 21 lads in the dressing room who did well to get through to the next round of the Carabao Cup against a Colchester team who deserve a lot of praise and made it difficult for us.

“What an experience (for Valdimarsson), we can speak about that. Actually nothing better when you get out on top and you had a big scare with the physical duals on the first throw.

“Then he adjusted well and dominated his box in the second half on the long-throws, on the set-pieces and he made a winning save from the penalty. A fantastic debut I would say.”

Toney's transfer to Al-Ahli follows the Saudi club's unsuccessful pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian forward is now poised to join Chelsea, leading Al-Ahli to turn their attention to Toney as their alternative target.
