Manchester United are said to consider Kieran McKenna as a potential candidate.

According to reports, Manchester United have reached out to Kieran McKenna regarding the possibility of him replacing Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford this summer.

McKenna, who has guided Ipswich Town to consecutive promotions, left his coaching role at United to take on his first managerial position at Portman Road. United's new INEOS hierarchy is reportedly exploring McKenna's interest in returning to the club, with multiple Premier League clubs also expressing interest in his services.

As speculation mounts over Ten Hag's future, McKenna is among the names linked with the managerial role at Old Trafford. Gareth Southgate, the England boss, is also reportedly in contention.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is awaiting a decision on his future, which is expected to be made at the end of the season. While his team still has a chance to win the FA Cup, there's also the possibility of missing out on European football for the first time since 2014.

Kieran McKenna, who previously served under managers Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Ralf Rangnick at United, cherished his time at the club. Despite his departure to pursue his own managerial career with Ipswich Town, McKenna expressed his appreciation for his tenure at Old Trafford, describing it as a fantastic experience.

"It's a fantastic club to work for. I was happy there.

“I could see a future there, but it was an ambition I've had right throughout my coaching career to go into management. When the initial contact came from Ipswich, I knew the background of the club, it's obviously a club with fantastic traditions and history.

"I also knew the current situation with the ownership and the investment that has been put into the club and that they're looking to make going forward. It was the right time for me to take the step, it's the right profile of club I was looking for and I'm grateful for them giving me this opportunity. I'm confident I'll be able to repay that faith in the future."
