Mikel Arteta emphasizes the need for further upgrades to his Arsenal squad if they are to finally secure the Premier League title. Despite coming close in the past two seasons and falling short to Manchester City, Arteta is pushing for additional investment to challenge City’s dominance.

The Arsenal manager, who made a significant splash last year with the record signing of Declan Rice, believes that more depth is essential. He has called on the Emirates hierarchy to continue supporting the team financially to strengthen their chances.

Arteta remarked on the necessity of improvement, saying: “We have to. Achieving perfection in this league requires meeting high standards. If we want to relate perfection to winning the Premier League, that’s what we need to aim for. We need to upgrade in every area and that’s what we’re striving to do.”

Under Arteta, Arsenal has already added key players like Ben White, Rice, Martin Ødegaard, and Kai Havertz. Although the team has posted impressive point totals recently, Arteta remains uncertain about whether new signings will be brought in to support their title aspirations.

He added: “I don’t know [if anyone will join us]. It’s still a lot of time to go in the window but that’s more of a question for Edu and the board I think. When you are so close you want to grab it. We are very close.”

Arsenal are exploring potential additions to both their defense and attack, as they seek to address key areas of concern. The team has been linked with several forwards, including Alexander Isak and Ivan Toney, to address the issue of a lack of a prolific striker. Additionally, they are rumored to be interested in Real Sociedad's Mikel Merino.

Riccardo Calafiori is one of the targets being pursued by the Gunners.

In defense, Bologna's Riccardo Calafiori, who represented Italy at the Euros, is a target to strengthen the backline. However, progress on this deal has been slow, with negotiations ongoing and no clear timeline for Calafiori's potential arrival.

“No, unfortunately not but obviously we know there are certain positions that we want to improve and give the squad better resources in terms of numbers where we are short," he said. "We will try our best but the main thing is to focus on falling in love with the players we have and make them better.”

Arsenal are currently on their pre-season tour of America, where they will face Bournemouth, Manchester United, and Liverpool. Their Premier League campaign kicks off with a match against Wolves at the Emirates Stadium.
