Liverpool's midfield saw three changes, with the presence of the trio Henderson - Fabinho - Elliott, who have won all four games together from the start of the season. Meanwhile, for MU, Erik Ten Hag decided to field a team that was not much different from the match against Newcastle to win the League Cup a week ago, but with a significant change in the formation: Fernandes was pushed to the right to catch Alexander-Arnold, while Weghorst played behind Rashford as a striker.

Liverpool had more possession in the early minutes, but MU had the first chance with Antony's left-footed shot being blocked by Alisson. Both sides had dangerous chances not long after that: In the 19th minute, Liverpool players had consecutive shots inside the penalty area but were blocked by MU's defense, and four minutes later, Lisandro Martinez had a superb rescue to deflect Nunez's close-range shot.

Three minutes later, Dalot crossed into Liverpool's penalty area from the right flank and Fernandes headed the ball but missed the goal. A minute later, Shaw's long pass found Rashford in the middle of Van Dijk and Robertson, but Rashford's first step sent the ball too softly towards Alisson. Man Utd continued to be disappointed when in the 42nd minute, Casemiro once again headed the ball into the net from a left-wing free kick, but this time he was offside.

Right after that missed goal, Alisson's long ball found Robertson on the left flank and the Scotland national team captain dribbled before taking advantage of Fred's positional mistake to play a through ball for Gakpo to break the offside trap. The Dutch star cut into the penalty area, eliminated Dalot before shooting to the far corner, beating De Gea to give Liverpool the lead.

Gakpo and Robertson scored a brilliant opening goal for Liverpool.

If the first half was somewhat balanced, the second half may be described as "historic". This is a historic destruction, as Man utd's defense became like clowns in the face of Liverpool's dominance. In the 47th minute, both Casemiro and Varane were disputing the ball in the midfield before Elliott crossed the ball within range for Nunez to head in, and three minutes later Liverpool counterattacked with a childish move from Salah against Martinez before passing the ball to Gakpo, who chipped the ball over De Gea from a very narrow angle.

The humiliation continued, and in the 66th minute, Nunez's pass was accidentally deflected by McTominay towards Salah in front of MU's goal, and Salah shot with his right foot to increase the score to 4-0. In the 75th minute, both Varane and Dalot were marking poorly in a header and "New Andy Carroll" Darwin Nunez nodded the ball gracefully into the far corner of the goal to score a double.

Salah did not want to be left behind, and in the 83rd minute, Elliott comfortably passed from the right flank, and although Firmino couldn't shoot immediately, the ball then bounced off Firmino's foot towards Salah, who simply tapped it into the net from a close range. All three starting forwards scored a double, and in the 88th minute, substitute Firmino also scored when he turned and shot through De Gea's legs from a tight angle.

With a 7-0 destruction of MU, Liverpool knocked Newcastle out of fifth place, and they are now only three points behind Tottenham above them, although having played one game less. MU is still in third place with four more points than Tottenham, but they are now 14 points behind the league leaders, Arsenal.

The final score of the match was Liverpool 7-0 MU (1-0 in the first half).
