What is the highest achievement of FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League?

Porto have won the UEFA Champions League twice, but never got runner-up. Once they entered the final round of the Champions League, the club all won the title, in the 1986-87 and 2003-04 seasons. 

Within 36 seasons participating in the UEFA Champions League, Porto won two titles, which is not really an impressive result, but not that bad because they have to compete against many giant clubs in European football. 

In the 1986-87 European Cup, Porto met Bayern Munich in the final round and finished as the triumph of this season. The final game was held at Prater Stadium, Vienna, Austria with the attendance of 62,000 spectators. The two clubs ended up with a 2-1 result for Porto. Although the opening goal was for Bayern Munich with the goal of Kogl, Porto surpassed in the last minutes of the second half. Madjer scored in the 79th minute and just two minutes later, Juary scored the winning goal for Porto, bringing the first European Cup title. 

Porto won their first European Cup in the 1986-87 season

Their second win was the 2003-04 Champions League, under the coaching of one of the best football managers, Jose Mourinho. Porto surpassed all the giants like Man City, Man United, Chelsea, or Arsenal to enter the final and met the French club Monaco. It was their big final win without conceding any goal. Porto got three goals from Carlos Alberto, Deco, and Alenichev.

Yes, Porto are included in the 2021-22 Champions League. By finishing second in the previous season of 2020-21 Primeira Liga, Porto qualified for the group stage of the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League.

Porto are currently playing in Group B with Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, and Milan. In their first three group stage matches, Porto won one, drew one, and lost one, the same result as Atletico Madrid. However, since Porto conceded more goals, they are ranking third in their group, after Liverpool and Atletico Madrid. Milan lost all three matches so they are standing in the bottom.

In their three matches, Porto lost to Liverpool with a big difference, 1-5, ended up equal with Atletico Madrid without any goal but a red card and won over Milan with a 1-0 win thanks to Luis Diaz. Perhaps in the second leg, they will have a much better result to keep their slot safe in the Champions League instead of being transferred to the Europa League.
