Arsenal are maintaining optimism about securing a new contract for Amario Cozier-Duberry despite significant interest from several top clubs in the young winger.

The 18-year-old, who has drawn comparisons to Bukayo Saka from former Gunners midfielder turned academy coach Jack Wilshere, is set to become a free agent at the end of June. Premier League outfits such as Newcastle and Wolves are keeping tabs on his situation, while the possibility of a move abroad remains open.

However, Arsenal are keen on retaining his talents, viewing him as close to breaking into the first team. Discussions have taken place, but neither the player nor his representatives have reached a decision yet.

Cozier-Duberry's recent performances, including a nomination for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for April and impressive stats of nine goals and five assists in the competition, highlight his potential. Additionally, he has netted twice in four appearances in the UEFA Youth League.

Described as the "crown jewel" of the club's academy, he has been a regular presence in Mikel Arteta's first-team training sessions this season and has previously been named as an unused substitute.

Although Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League 2 table, Cozier-Duberry showcased his prowess by scoring twice in a commanding 6-2 victory over Manchester United in the first round of the playoffs last Friday. The young Gunners are now set to face Chelsea at Meadow Park this Saturday at lunchtime.

While comparisons to Saka might seem like a weighty burden for a young player, the 5ft 7in and 9.5 stone winger can be described as "unplayable," according to Under-18 head coach Wilshere.

"Amario is incredibly exciting, and Mikel [Arteta] is a fan," remarked Wilshere to The Athletic last year. "He's reminiscent of Bukayo Saka, occupying the same role, and like Bukayo, he needs to refine his decision-making. Nonetheless, he's a truly thrilling prospect."

“In some moments he’s unplayable. You give him the ball and he can make things happen. You can set up a team and have a game plan, but when you’ve got individuals like that you’ve got a chance.”
