Real Madrid Icon Sergio Ramos Set to Join Besiktas After Departing PSG

Sergio Ramos, an iconic figure of Real Madrid, bid farewell to the club in the summer of 2021 after an illustrious sixteen-year tenure donning the Royal White jersey. He ventured on to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), where he spent a couple of seasons. Currently, he is available as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with the Ligue 1 giants.

Ramos had been linked with several clubs in recent times. Naturally, speculations arose about him potentially joining the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the Saudi Pro League.

There were also rumors of interest from LA Galaxy for a brief period. For a fleeting moment, there were whispers of a return to Real Madrid when Eder Militao sustained an injury, but those speculations were swiftly dismissed. Sevilla, it seems, is not an option either.

After all the swirling rumors regarding Ramos' future, there now seems to be some clarity on the matter. It appears that he may be headed to Turkey.

According to Foot Mercato, Ramos' representatives are presently awaiting the final offer from Besiktas before giving the green light.

Besiktas secured a third-place finish in the Turkish league last season and currently stands eighth after the first two matchdays of this season. Therefore, the club could benefit from the presence of someone like Ramos, who brings a wealth of experience from competing at the highest levels.

At 37 years of age, Ramos remains fully capable of consistent and high-level performance. In fact, he logged significant minutes for a club like PSG last season, contributing to their Ligue 1 title victory.

Many Real Madrid supporters believed it would have made sense for the club to sign Ramos on a one-season deal, allowing him to fill in for Militao.

Senol Gunes' side has already secured the services of former Liverpool and Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Ramos' impending arrival will further bolster their squad.
