Eden Hazard retires from international career.

"A page turns today… I have decided to put an end to my international career. The succession is ready." Eden Hazard wrote on his social accounts.

"Thank you for your love. Thank you for your unparalleled support. Thank you for all this happiness shared since 2008; I will miss you." added the Real Madrid winger, born in 1991.

Hazard sent his love and appreciation to his fans in his retirement announcement.

In the comment section below Hazard’s post, the former Chelsea player received many wishes and expressions of gratitude from fans and teammates such as Jan Vertonghen, Michy Batshuayi, Axel Witsel, Thibaut Courtois, etc.

“The memories we have of you, especially during the brilliant spell at Chelsea, will never fade away. You did well at the 2018 World Cup too. One of the finest wingers and dribblers of his generation. All the best in retirement.”, a fan named Peter Theuri sent to Hazard.

Harzard’s teammates on the national team, Batshuayi and Witsel, both thank the Belgian captain for everything he has done for his nation.

Many other players who used to play alongside Real Madrid's No. 7 also sent their love to him. Notably, Marcelo, who spent three seasons in Real Madrid with Harzard, referred to the Belgian winger as "an idol" and expressed his admiration. 

Some Real Madrid players, including Lucas Vaquez, Vinicius Jr., and David Alaba, all called Hazard a legend of his country.

On the official account of the Belgium national team, they posted many messages to pay tribute to their captain, including the most memorable pictures of Hazard through every tournament that he was a part of the team.

Hazard joined the national team in 2008, when he was only 17 years old. Since then, he has played 126 matches, scoring 33 goals. Since 2015, the former Chelsea player has been given the captain's armband with the expectation of leading the golden generation of Belgian football to titles in major tournaments. However, the best achievement of the "Red Devils" in recent years is just rising to the top of the FIFA rankings and taking 3rd place at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

This year, Hazard arrived in Qatar without being in the best shape and form after struggling with injuries in Madrid during the past few months. In all three group stage matches, he did not score or assist. Four minutes in the 0-0 draw against Croatia were Hazard's last moments in the Belgian team’s shirt. The star on the payroll of Real Madrid and his teammates had to go home right after the group stage.

Hazard had a terrible World Cup with his national team, being eliminated right after the group stages.

The Royal Belgian Football Association is urgently looking for a replacement coach.
