Napoli vs Juventus Highlight

The home team won 5-1 in the intense contest between Napoli and Juventus. With 10 points more than Milan and Juventus combined, Napoli is in the lead. The Old Lady's eight-game winning streak in Serie A was also broken in this game.

Napoli vs Juventus summary

League leaders Napoli sought to assert their aggressive style against second-placed Juventus with the support of a boisterous home crowd, and it only took them 14 minutes to breach a Bianconeri defense that hadn't given up in eight South American games. Wojciech Szczsny had impressively saved Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's acrobatic attempt, and Victor Osimhen was alert to head home after seeing his debut effort denied moments earlier. Amir Rrahmani's errant pass gave Juventus their first opportunity to score as the visitors rallied, but ngel Di Mara's shot hit the woodwork on its way behind the goal, keeping Napoli ahead.

The hosts, being as merciless as ever, would increase their lead in the 39th minute when Kvaratskhelia capitalized on Osimhen's selfless pass in front of goal to tuck the ball into the bottom corner. The home crowd was shocked, though, when Di Mara gave Juventus the quick response they required by expertly ending Arkadiusz Milik's layoff. Then, with just a few seconds left in the half, Alex Meret brilliantly stopped Rrahmani's clumsy attempt to clear Federico Chiesa's cross.

After the break, Napoli regained their composure, and Osimhen made a fantastic run behind Alex Sandro before being stopped by Szczsny. But when Rrahmani scored his first goal of the year with an incredible hit from the ensuing corner, the goalkeeper was helpless to stop it. The league's leading scorer made no mistake as Osimhen headed Kvaratskhelia's cross home to make it a resounding 4-1 in the 65th minute after Gleison Bremer lost possession near his own box earlier in the game.

Seven minutes later, Eljif Elmas' shot was deflected in by Alex Sandro, giving Napoli their tenth straight victory at home. By this point, Luciano Spalletti's team was advancing at will. The Gli Azzurri were ruthless in their pursuit of their first Scudetto since 1990 on a potentially historic night for the team, snapping Juventus' eight-game league winning streak. In addition, Napoli scored so many goals that they defeated the Old Lady by five goals for just the second time in the 94-year history of this match.
