Once again, Jurgen Klopp faces an anxious wait for Andy Robertson's return from international duty as the Liverpool manager worries about his ongoing injury concerns.

During Scotland's 1-0 defeat against Northern Ireland on Tuesday night, Robertson appeared to suffer an ankle injury. The incident occurred when he was challenged by Trai Hume and required immediate treatment. Although the Liverpool left-back attempted to continue playing, he later went over on the same ankle in another collision. In visible distress, Robertson signaled to the bench and was subsequently substituted in the 36th minute.

Speaking about Robertson's injury, Scotland manager Steve Clarke stated that the player would allow the injury to progress naturally. Upon returning to his club, Liverpool, Robertson will undergo further assessment to determine the severity of the injury, with hopes that it is not too serious.

Jurgen Klopp will anxiously evaluate Andy Robertson's condition upon his return to Liverpool, with the left-back's availability for Sunday's Premier League match against Brighton uncertain. Robertson's recent injury setback adds to a season already marred by a three-month absence due to a shoulder injury sustained during international duty against Spain in October, which required surgery.

Liverpool is currently competing for the Premier League title and the Europa League, with Scotland's Euro 2024 campaign on the horizon. In Scotland's recent friendly against Northern Ireland, Robertson's Anfield teammate Conor Bradley netted the only goal of the game, albeit with a slight deflection, marking his first international goal.

This injury is the second blow for Robertson this season, as he was previously ruled out between October and January following a collision with Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon during a Euro 2024 qualifier. Klopp has faced a significant number of injury challenges throughout his final season at Liverpool, necessitating adjustments in the team's defensive lineup. Initially, Kostas Tsimikas deputized for Robertson, but when the Greek international also suffered an injury, Joe Gomez filled in on the left side.

This season has presented a unique set of challenges for Andy Robertson, who has enjoyed relatively injury-free spells during his time at Liverpool. In the past five seasons, he consistently appeared in at least 43 matches, showcasing his durability and reliability. However, due to shoulder surgery, Robertson has already missed 21 games this campaign, and he will undoubtedly be eager to avoid any further absences.

In Jurgen Klopp's final season, Liverpool has already secured the Carabao Cup and remains in contention for both the Premier League title and the Europa League. Their upcoming fixture against Brighton is followed by a packed April schedule, featuring eight matches, including crucial Premier League encounters against Manchester United and Everton. Additionally, Liverpool will compete in both legs of their Europa League quarter-final tie against Atalanta, further adding to their demanding fixture list.
