Viktor Gyokeres has scored 12 goals in five games for club and country this month.

Sweden had already secured top spot in Nations League Group C1 with a game to spare and wasted no time, taking the lead after just 10 minutes with Dejan Kulusevski's first goal of the night.

Kulusevski then turned provider, assisting Viktor Gyokeres, who struck again in the 37th minute.

Alexander Isak thought he had made it 4-0 just before the break, but a VAR review ruled him offside. The Newcastle striker also had a penalty saved by Azerbaijan's goalkeeper Rza Cafarov, though Kulusevski quickly added Sweden's fourth nine minutes into the second half.

Azerbaijan, already confirmed to finish bottom of the group and face relegation, immediately lost possession from the restart, allowing Gyokeres to complete his hat-trick before adding his fourth goal in the 70th minute.

Gyokeres, who previously played in the English Championship with Swansea City and Coventry City before moving to Sporting, has enjoyed a stellar season, scoring 23 goals for his club and nine for Sweden in 2024-25.

The 26-year-old also netted a hat-trick in Sporting's 4-1 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League this month, during Ruben Amorim's final match before he left to manage Manchester United.

With an £83 million release clause in his contract, Gyokeres has been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford following Amorim.
