Simone Inzaghi admitted that his emotions got the better of him during Inter's tense Serie A victory over Udinese on Sunday.

Marko Arnautovic and Davide Frattesi had given the league leaders a comfortable two-goal cushion at halftime, but Oumar Solet’s impressive strike in the 71st minute set up a nervy finish.

Inter had to rely on goalkeeper Yann Sommer to secure all three points, with the Swiss shot-stopper making crucial saves to deny Solet and Lorenzo Lucca late on as they held on for a 2-1 win.

However, as stoppage time approached, Inzaghi was shown a second yellow card for stepping onto the pitch after a decision went in Udinese’s favor.

Despite the 48-year-old being forced to watch the final moments from the stands, Inter secured their 20th Serie A victory of the campaign.

"A fantastic first half from the lads, where we deserved more than a two-goal lead," Inzaghi told DAZN.

"In the second half, before Solet's goal, we hadn't conceded much. After that, we lost some composure against a Udinese side that always shows quality.

"I made a mistake at the end and apologized to the referee," Inzaghi added regarding his dismissal.

"The foul on Correa seemed clear to me, and then there was the corner from which Solet nearly scored.

"Sometimes, adrenaline takes over and leads to mistakes. Unfortunately, I won’t be on the bench next time."

Inzaghi received his first yellow card shortly after halftime for protesting when Marcus Thuram was brought down on the edge of the box, with the referee opting not to award a free-kick.

As a result of his dismissal, he will miss Inter’s trip to Parma next weekend. Meanwhile, he also revealed that his squad will be depleted for their Coppa Italia semi-final against AC Milan in midweek.

“At the moment, we are struggling. Four of our five substitutions were forced,” Inzaghi said.

“Arnautovic and Frattesi both took knocks and had to come off, while Dimarco and Darmian had only just returned from injury.

“On Wednesday, we will also be without Asllani due to suspension. This would have been Calhanoglu’s fourth full match, so I decided to take him off.”

Inzaghi confirmed that Mehdi Taremi, Lautaro Martinez, and Denzel Dumfries will also be unavailable for the Milan clash, adding:

“We’ll push forward and hope they can help us in the future because we will need them as the season progresses. The Club World Cup will also be an important competition for us.”
