It is with great sadness that Nottingham Forest has announced the passing of Larry Lloyd, a double European Cup winner, at the age of 75.

Lloyd, a former England international, played a crucial role in the legendary Forest team that achieved consecutive European Cup triumphs in 1979 and 1980. He earned four caps for his country and made over 200 appearances for both Nottingham Forest and Liverpool during his career.

The club released a statement on social media expressing their deep sorrow: "We are profoundly saddened by the news of Larry Lloyd's passing. As a member of the Miracle Men, Larry was a vital player in the Forest side that famously clinched back-to-back European Cups in 1979 and 1980, making a total of 218 appearances for the club."

"We send our condolences to Larry’s friends and family at this truly sad time. Rest in peace, Larry."

Liverpool Football Club also paid tribute to Larry Lloyd and announced that they would honor him with a period of applause before their upcoming match against Brighton at Anfield.

In their tribute, Liverpool described Lloyd as a commanding presence in the air and a strong tackler, highlighting his contributions during his time with the club. They expressed their condolences to Lloyd's family and friends, extending their sympathies during this difficult time.

Lloyd began his professional career at his hometown club, Bristol Rovers, before being signed by Liverpool legend Bill Shankly in 1969. Following his stint at Liverpool, he went on to play for several other English clubs, including Coventry City and Wigan Athletic, before joining Nottingham Forest.

Lloyd's move to Wigan Athletic marked the start of a short coaching career as he took on a player-manager role. He successfully guided the team to promotion from the fourth tier and ensured their survival in the following season before moving on to manage Notts County, where he spent a year in charge.

Following his coaching career, Larry Lloyd transitioned to become a pundit, providing coverage of Nottingham Forest matches for local radio. He later moved to Spain and became involved in amateur football before returning to England in 2021.

Fans took to social media platforms to express their heartfelt tributes to the Nottingham Forest legend. One supporter wrote, "Sad news. Played a significant role in our success during the late 70s. RIP Larry," while another added, "Rest in peace, Larry. His legacy will always be cherished in the history of football." The outpouring of condolences on social media highlighted the enduring impact Lloyd had on the footballing community.
